PERTH, AU – VGW is delighted to announce it has partnered with Foodbank WA to help provide essential food items to Western Australians experiencing financial difficulty, with a donation of $150,000.
The funding will help expand Foodbank WA’s Everyday Food Essentials initiative – a program that ensures a reliable supply of pantry staples for people in need, independent of traditional food donations. It will enable Foodbank WA to significantly expand its range of shelf stable products, increasing from 20 to an additional 38 items.
Foodbank WA helps feed people in need, by providing food and grocery relief to 2,929 front-line charities, as well as 3,220 school breakfast programs. In 2024, they sourced enough food for 92 million meals across Australia.
VGW’s CEO, Laurence Escalante, said the company was honoured to partner with an organisation making a real difference. “We’re a global company founded and headquartered in Western Australia and are passionate about supporting all the communities where we operate. There are many West Aussies doing it tough at the moment, and we want to help by making it easier for them to put food on their table.”
“Foodbank WA is doing an outstanding job helping feed families and individuals who are going without, and we’re proud to support their mission and contribute to such a worthy cause,” said Mr Escalante.
This expansion allows Foodbank WA to provide a more diverse and inclusive product range that reflects the cultural, dietary, and nutritional needs of the community. Their focus is on allergen-friendly options and culturally relevant staples to ensure they can support everyone who turns to them for help.
Foodbank CEO, Kate O’Hara, highlighted the impact the donation would make on Foodbank’s product supply. “Our customer shopping experience is heavily reliant on very generous donations from producers, farmers and manufacturers. For a long time now, we have wanted to expand our range of essential products and ensure a constant supply of these items creating a level of consistency for our clients no matter what day of the week it is. Thanks to VGW, we will be able to expand our range to include oats, black tea, lactose-free UHT full cream milk, hygiene products, dishwashing liquid and laundry powder.”
