VGW is honoured to announce a US$30,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) following VGW’s inaugural Global Poker Rattlesnake Open Giveback Tournament, held on Sunday 25 May 2025.
This milestone event marked the first-ever charity giveback as part of Global Poker’s highly anticipated series, the Rattlesnake Open.
What set this giveback tournament apart was the inclusion of a community-driven charity selection, with players voting for one of three selected charities to receive a donation, and BCRF receiving the highest number of votes.
BCRF is dedicated to ending breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. In fact, BCRF-funded scientists have been involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship and metastasis.
Mats Johnson, Chief Marketing Officer at VGW said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the world, and we are honoured to support the incredible work of the BCRF – a cause selected by our players and one that clearly means a lot to many in communities across the globe.”
“By supporting the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world, VGW is making a genuine and tangible impact,” said BCRF President and CEO Donna McKay. “With over 30 years of fueling breakthroughs we know that the only way we will end breast cancer is by supporting the mission—together. It is our collective action that will continue driving change until no one has to fear this life threatening disease.”
The donation amount was determined by how many players participated in the main Gold Coin event for the Rattlesnake Open. As a token of appreciation and to recognise the valuable work of all charities that took part in the event, VGW pledged US$1,000 to each participating organisation, with the other two charities including the Prostate Cancer Foundation and The Hunger Coalition.
