PERTH, AU – VGW is delighted to announce it has partnered with Foodbank WA for another year, donating $150,000 to the organisation’s Mobile Foodbank initiative.
Foodbank WA’s Perth Mobile Foodbank initiative is a weekly service, in which three trucks visit up to 40 locations – 75 including regional areas – to ensure people who are facing financial hardship are able to access affordable food. Product options include grocery staples such as pasta, rice, and canned vegetables, personal hygiene, assorted frozen products and free fruit and vegetables.
Foodbank WA CEO, Kate O’Hara, highlighted the impact the donation would make on Foodbank WA’s product supply.
“Strong partnerships are at the heart of Foodbank WA’s ability to tackle food insecurity across our vast state. We are delighted to continue our partnership with VGW, whose support of the Mobile Foodbank program helps us reach communities that may otherwise have limited access to affordable, nutritious food,” she said. “Together, we are creating meaningful impact, ensuring more Western Australians can access the food they need while building stronger, more resilient communities.”
VGW’s Acting CEO, Mats Johnson, said the company was honoured to partner with an organisation making a real difference amid cost of living challenges. “As a global company founded and headquartered in Western Australia, we are committed to supporting the communities close to us. Many Western Australians are currently experiencing hardship, and we wish to help ease that burden by making it easier and more accessible for them to put food on their tables,” he said.
“Foodbank WA does outstanding work in providing for families and individuals in need, and we are proud to support its mission and contribute to such a worthy cause.”
Last year, VGW supported Foodbank WA’s Pantry Everyday Food Essentials initiative, expanding their key staple pantry food and product range from 20 to over 50 different products. The extra products available across all their branches and mobiles continue to offer Foodbank WA clients a wider range of vital pantry options that were previously not always available.
Foodbank WA helps feed people in need. Last financial year alone, they provided 9.7 million meals to West Australians doing it tough, food and grocery relief through 520 front-line charities, and fed more than 326,000 WA children through 690 schools statewide with the school breakfast program.
