In an ever-evolving  job market and industry, staying ahead is essential for nailing talent acquisition. Abigail, our Head of Talent Acquisition at VGW, shares her journey and how her team is shaking up their recruitment strategy to find the perfect fit.

From Psychology to Talent Leadership

With a deep-seated interest in human behaviour, Abigail started her career with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology. This helped her pave the way for a flourishing career in recruitment, starting with a five-year stint at a technology recruitment agency in the UK. Her journey continued with a move to Gibraltar, where Abigail secured her first in-house role in Talent Acquisition.

“After six fulfilling years in Gibraltar, I made a move to Sydney, taking leadership roles in talent acquisition across media and SAS industries. Ultimately, I returned to my roots in games and entertainment—an industry that endlessly intrigues me with its sense of fun and myriad of opportunities,” Abigail says.

Growing Alongside VGW

Over the past three years, Abigail has evolved alongside the company’s growth. Originally brought on to build a high-performing recruitment function, her role has since expanded to strategically align VGW’s talent acquisition and retention efforts with the company’s broader objectives. “What excites me most is the autonomy to challenge conventions and explore new avenues,” Abigail says.

In the past year, she embarked on an ambitious exploration of AI’s potential to transform the recruiter’s role. ”I foresee AI streamlining administrative tasks, enhancing accuracy, and elevating the quality of our candidate pool, thereby allowing talent acquisition teams to focus on more specialised endeavours,” Abigail says.

She says her focus on AI and value alignment isn’t just about staying competitive, but about setting new standards for what effective talent acquisition can achieve.

Powered by Passion

Abigail says one of the things she loves most about VGW, is the way individuals from diverse backgrounds unite to collaborate and solve problems together. “VGW stands out as a dynamic and distinctive workplace and innovation is a constant pursuit. You’ll collaborate with some of the most exceptional professionals in the field, making it an unparalleled environment to thrive and grow professionally.”

By blending technology with a deep understanding of human values, her aim is to shape a more dynamic, efficient, and inclusive recruitment process at VGW.

Insights for Prospective Candidates

For prospective candidates engaging with VGW’s Talent Acquisition team, Abigail highlights the importance of shared values. “It’s important to align personal values with our organisational ethos. Beyond technical acumen, we value candidates who embody traits such as humility, openness, curiosity, and a commitment to nurturing customer relationships—qualities that resonate deeply with our core values,” Abigail says.

“It’s a place where you can truly make an impact and be part of a team that is shaping the future of interactive entertainment. I look forward to meeting you there,” Abigail says.
